My Struggle with Art Journaling

Art journaling is really hard for me and I can't quite figure out why.  I love the idea of it, but I can't seem to complete a journal,at least not one that I am happy with.  My BFF brought this little art kit to Paris.

It was amazing all the things she packed into the cigar box.  She also made lovely art journals (using file folders) for all 3 of us.  Here is mine.

My BFF filled her art journal with lovely drawings and beautiful text that documented our trip - all the fun and crazy things that happened (such as finding a scrubby sponge in a restaurant salad).  I tried to make a journal but feel I was less than successful.  Here are a few  of my pages.

I guess I need to practice art journaling, if that is really a priority.  If I practice, I am sure I would improve and the process would become easier.  But perhaps that just isn't my thing.  I plan to finish my Paris journal and then move on to other things.  Art journaling will have to wait for another time, I suppose, a time when the urge really hits me.  Right now I want to concentrate of other things.

If you are an art journaler, you have my admiration.  Keep up the good work!

Is it August Already?

How did August get here so fast?

Actually I say that every year.  School starts in a week and I have already worked for 10 days since I came back from Paris.  I am trying to get rid of my "summer brain" and restart my "school brain."  That process takes awhile, believe me!

I had a wonderful time in Paris and Copenhagen - walking, eating, talking, looking at art.  It was exactly the trip I had imagined it would be.  Not only was it great fun, but I spent quality time with 2 of my favorite people in the whole world: my sister and my BFF.  They are terrific traveling companions and wonderful people all around.

Here is a sampling of my 400 photos.

May everyone have the opportunity to make her own special dream come true.
